The Steam Museum is hosting a charity Musical Barbeque on Saturday July 19th at 7.30pm. The event features a band, a fortune teller, raffle and many other attractions. Tickets are €20 for adults and €10 for children under 16.
All proceeds from this event go to the Celbridge Multiple Sclerosis Self Help Group and it assists in paying for physiotherapy for the members.
The Steam Museum and Lodge Park Walled Garden will be open on Saturday July 19th and Sunday July 20th from 2 – 6pm and all entrance takings will also be donated to the group.
The restoration of this eighteenth-century walled garden adjoining Lodge Park, a Palladian house of 1773, started in 1980. The old brick-faced walls look much as they did when it was built, and here fruit, flowers, and vegetables are grown for the house.
The garden is divided into different sections but the design is dictated by the long, box-edged axis path with regularly spaced clipped yew trees. It comprises a south-facing shrub border, herbaceous border, different coloured gardens, vegetable area, and a rosarie which is at its best in June and July.
The garden has a large collection of rare and unusual plants and is situated
beside the Steam Museum.
